Don't Call Me Gene
The Story
The story started in the Fall of 2025 when bassist Dan Haase and guitarist J.T. Sofo brought up the idea of starting a cover band that was going to be different from any other cover band on the Jersey Shore. Haase and Sofo soon pitched the idea of getting together for a jam to drummer Matt Baker and singer Lauren Mazzara. After one rehearsal the four piece knew they had a special vibe and connection; and Don't Call Me Gene was born.
Don't Call Me Gene is now looking to lift itself from their basement rehearsal lab, to the stages of the Jersey Shore and beyond. We aim to be your next favorite cover band, playing a fun, uptempo and vibrant mix of songs from today, yesterday, and as far back as your ears will allow us to take you. Every Don't Call Me Gene show promises to be an adventure through your favorite eras of music, and promises to be a great night out for you and the company you keep.
Don't Call Me Gene prides themselves on high level musicianship, expert renditions of our favorite songs, innovative presentation of our repertoire, and overall professionalism every time we take the stage. Music is Don't Call Me Gene's passion, it is our life and love, and we look to share that with our audience with every show.
